In the year 1990, 'The Great Indian Circus' owned by Iqbal Haroon Khan ( Jackie Shroff) in Chicago, Illinois gets closed when he is unable to repay his loan. It received generally positive reviews, with praise for its cinematography, music, action sequences, screenplay,visual effects and Khan's performance. The film was screened during the 2014 International Film Festival of India in the Celebrating Dance in Indian Cinema section. The film grossed ₹400 crore (US$68.26 million) worldwide in just ten days, to become the highest-grossing Indian film of all time, before becoming the first Indian film to cross ₹500 crore (US$85.33 million). Dhoom 3 was released on 20 December 2013, as the first Indian film to be released in the IMAX motion picture film format with Dolby Atmos surround sound. Tabrett Bethell and Andrew Bicknell are also featured in supporting roles. The film sees Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra reprise their roles as protagonists Jai and Ali. It is the third installment of the Dhoom series and the sequel to Dhoom (2004) and Dhoom 2 (2006).
